A beautiful trek to Everest base camp and for those who want to, the chance to compete in the highest marathon in the world. Julian and Andrew, two of our Trustees, are planning on taking on the world’s highest marathon from Everest Base Camp to Namche Bazaar. The marathon was first held in 2003 in tribute to Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay’s first ascent of Mount Everest via South Ridge on 29th May 1953. The race starts at an altitude of 5,364m and involves over 1,000m of ascent and 2,600m of descent. Running at altitude is going to be a major test of endurance in the thin air.
